We are experiencing a political and social attack also carried out on social media on our collective from the side of a previous collective member and their friends. These people have showed really dangerous behaviors during the last weeks that strongly undermine the basic principles on which XB is based on; these behaviors include:

1) verbal and physical attacks on guests and passersby inside and outside of XB
2) disrespect of the decisions taken in plenum on the matter
3) the discrimination of people because of their political ideas and ethnicities, exasperating the discussion on “white citizenship”
4) sexist attack on a cis-man collaborating with our collective
5) physical aggressions and threats to XB collective members
6) posting on social networks of internal communications/statements, without our consent

The XB collective member was asked several times to come to plenum to solve these problems, with discussion and confrontation. They showed up for talking only once in over two months, and continuously refused to listen to our reasons, making fun of us in really bad ways.
This is why we decided to ban the collective member from XB activities.

The last attack is going on right now: they created posts, flyers and statements saying that we are a sexist, racist, transmysoginist collective, and promised to actively boycott XB by flyering in front of XB at our events. XB doesn‘t need this, and for it to stop, we need support from outside.

We, XB collective, are convinced that whatever person is just a person: we don‘t tolerate addressing people depending on the ethnicity, gender, sexuality or political ideas. All these things should never be used to make differences between people, and mostly are not discernible things without confronting each other. We all have different backgrounds and our roots and preferences cannot for sure be assumed in this way.

XB collective, as it has always been, is an anarchist, anti-sexist, anti-racist, anti-fascist group, and XB is an open space for everyone. For keeping it a safe space as it is, we need your support. Come and participate in our evenings and events.

XB Liebig and artetetra present:

MARIMBA (Das Andere Selbst)
MARIMBA is an ongoing side project by Paul Jones (Cindytalk, Mothership Convention, Stolen recordings) and Elia Buletti (Delmore fx, Das Andere Selbst). They met in Berlin on 2013 and share since then a multitude of interests and diverse influences from metaphysical bacterium to gate compression. They‘re creating instinctive natural sonic forms that evolve through improvisation and derangement of all the senses.

WJM (BURP Enterprise)
Roberta WJM Andreucci is a percussionist, an experimental producer and DJ, and on air personality. She has more than twenty year of experience organizing and promoting alternative music events. She practices plagiarism and the cutting and mixing of musical and ambiental aural sources. Early in her career she started focusing on the use of voices and on vocal metalinguism, focalizing on her personal practice of “cuttingandslicing” and on rhythm patterns obtained through an improper use of her tools of the trade (cdjs, cd player, md, me mixer). Through the years her percussion set morphed into a hybrid encompassing a dj booth, a radio dj one, a microphone station for electroacustic experiments, and a mnemonic butcher’s slab. She is a founding member of performing music units such as Jealousy Party, Semerssuaq, The Secretaries and Sistemi Audiofobici Burp. She is the director of the music label Burp Publications.

DJ MAT POGO (BURP Enterprise)
Born in Rome is a vocalist and graphic artist now resident in Berlin. In the 90’s he was one of the founder members of the Burp Enterprise collective and Jealousy Party, one of the most advanced musical units in Italy, mixing with personal touch soul, improv, avant rock, noise and error music.
In the years he developed his own language as a singer/voice-artist using his experience as a rock singer, an improviser and radio-artist where music, sounds, anecdotic and narrative elements fuse constantly.
Beside Jealousy Party other projects he’s currently involved are Pokemachine (with Anders Hana), Penates (with JD Zazie), B Unit (with JD Zazie and Peter Schlewinski), duo collaborations with Ignaz Schick, Michael Renkel, Nicolas Wiese and DJ collective Sistemi Audiofobici Burp.

Garage Olimpo! (ArteTetra)
Garage Olimpo! is the solo collective project founded by Luigi Monteanni (BABAU, Tetuan) in wich usually the form of free sound, improvisation music and of free music in general approaches different elements to combine in eerie soundscapes and ethereal compositions made of Tibetan bells, Reeds and wind instruments, throat singing, uncontrolled noises and ethnic field recordings. Strongly influenced by oriental sacred music such as Ragas and Om music and by contemporary experimental Jazz and Noise sound deconstruction Garage Olimpo! creates an anarchic and unholy rite in wich the untouchable respect for the atmospheres of Hexology fuse with theft of cattles and consorting with Beastmen.

Artetetra is a newborn DIY label from Marche, Italy founded by Matteo Pennesi and Luigi Monteanni (both members of Tetuan and Babau). The label is part of a wider project of art collective with the participation of other members. The productions in audiocassette are home crafted, from audio dubbing to packaging, for this reason the number of copies is usually limited. The artists are not chosen for the music genre but the factors that determine a production are the attitude and the aestethetics affinity.

ssajjanu was formed in 2006, at the very center of Tokyo.

Members are;
Nepperining Funazuma(Gt)
Gida Dolgandy Fune(Dr)
Maleman Stoltz(Gt)
(L to R)

Those three guys who were doing various musical activities in Japanese underground scene, gathered and began MAD music based on complete Sadism to abandon any theories.
Rhythm changes rapidly and never gives the listener any space to get in, and melodies force you to give up singing along together.
Phrases are chopped and formed nonsense to the utmost limit, gigantic pieces pass in a second and never get back.
sajjanu memorize them perfectly by body, and play.
However, the overwhelming pop-ness each sound sometimes releases, will lead the listener to feel some confusion but at the same time pleasure that they have never felt before.

Convulsif (experimental darkthrone)

CONVULSIF is a collective around the bass player Loïc Grobéty. The band focuses to an enriched tension between composition and improvisation in powerful sounds. After two conceptual CDs in crossover style – Jazz, Metal, Classic, Free – and changing collaborations of various artists and musicians, Convulsif is about to concentrate to heavier sounds and to a fixer line up. With a special instrumentation – a classic rhythm section and heavy amplified, treated violin & bass clarinet – they go deep in the sound of the actual metal scene and mix different tendencies to a new unknown conglomerate: Grind, Doom, Drone, Black Metal and Soundscapes are played with the means of conceptual improvisation and imposed themes. All colored by a very uncommon instrumentation.

Schürhaken Körner (no wave / noiserock)

Nosk is the solo project of Ivan Verda. Guitarist , he explores the interaction between string instruments and electronics, using loops, effects pédals, objects, small analogic synthesizers, combined with guitar, lapsteel or buzuki. His music is based on abstract and organic sound textures made live, chosing the spontaneous composition and improvisation as a musical form. Denses rivers of sound alterned to percussion elements or abrasive onces are assembled or decomposed forming soundscapes that varies from drone to electronica and noise.

the answer of xb-liebig to the letter of the supporters-group ask-gerd_a from the 8`th of october 2014

----------we want to give a trigger warning,
the text contains thoughts about sexual violence and rape--------

with this paper we want to explain the different oppinions of members of the xb-collective regarding the request for a bann of the perpetrator from scherer8.

End of last year we received an e-mail from ask-gerd_a with the demand to exclude the perpetrator from scherer8 from the xb-liebig. Some people from the collective had the need to get more information about the situation, so we decided to meet with members of the support-group ask gerd_a. It`s true that we also meet with people from scherer8, but we informed the affected person and ask gerd_a about this decision and made clear that we wish to meet ask gerd_a first. We are surprised that ask gerd_a is saying now that this meeting happened without the person affected or them knowing about it.

The meeting with people from scherer8 was never about getting information to then judge if something violent happened or not. All of us respect the power of definition of the affected person. We decided to meet them because we wanted to know why the scherer8 decided to don`t exclude the perpetrator from the house and in which way he is working on his boundary crossing behavior with people from his surrounding. Not all of us agreed to this step and as ask gerd_a mentioned we don`t have a consensus about how to deal with such situations.
Because of this, below the different statements of collective-members:

„Within the next few sentences, I want to make my personal point of view regarding to the situation with the perpetrator, who lives in Scherer8 and the request from the support-group of the affected person for xb-liebig as a safe(r) space in a generell way clear. For me personally, there is no doubt about how to react as a person, with an anarchist pro-feminist self-understanding. I accept the power of definition of the person affected by sexualized violence in the sense of defining the boundary crossing/violation itself as well as the request for safe(r) spaces. I think this can`t be separated. Showing solidarity in this practical way (also from my „shitty“ privileged male position in this patriarchal society) is very important for me. I see the xb-liebig as an (pro-)feminist place. So, if I am involved in the organization of events in the xb-liebig, there won`t be a place for the perpetrator. This concerns the küfa at the first, third and fifth tuesday every month organized by RiceUp, concerts organized by Sleaze-Shows and events from Krachtigall. The perpetrator is excluded there, to try to make the xb-liebig in this case a safe(r) space for the affected person. I don`t want the affected person to limit spaces, she can visit without meeting the perpetrator. Also for me doesn‘t matter how I got informed about the incident (e.g. by accident, from the supporters-group or the affected person or however) or what the perpetrator or his supporters say. Thus I don`t have to hear the perpetrator’s or his supporters version of the incident or how to deal with the request for a safe(r) space, too. I think the statements from the xb-collectiv members should have been communicated more clearly, but we somehow messed it up and should improve it.“

„All the argumentation below is only about border crossing situations in which the perpetrators admit they crossed a boundary and want to work on it , as in this particular case, – not rape or sexual assault which is characterized by the use of threat or force -.
First of all, we do not agree with the common practice in anti-sexist spaces to not hear the side of the perpetrator. We do respect the power of definition, if someone calls something boundary crossing that means the action mentioned was indeed boundary crossing. What we do not agree on is that the persons accused are going to be expelled from our spaces and scenes generally and without being heard. Even some of the states in power today realised that it is unfair to judge someone without hearing them first. Again, this does not mean that we are against the principle of Safer Spaces. We do agree that the person affected should not have to spend time in the same space as the person crossing their boundaries and we will throw him out, if she comes here and requests us to do so. Plus we would have agreed on a permanent ban if the person affected would have been living here and could potentially have been confronted with the person crossing their boundaries every day whenever entering or leaving the house. When she is not here we will not throw him out because he admitted that he commited a boundary crossing and has shown intents to work on his behavior. This does make a significant difference to us, because we agree that someone who would react in an unregenerate way should definitely be permanently excluded from a space like XB-Liebig. Otherwise, though: where, if not in feminist, anti-sexist spaces will he be exposed to the information necessary? Moreover, we do not agree on that the power of definition includes the right do demand anything you want thereafter. For us, it does include the right to demand that the person perpetrating not be in the same spaces or carry out the same inconsensual action again. It does not include banning that person forever and in all the spaces in order to kill their social live, if they admit that they have crossed a boundary. We have not been able to come to a consent within XB-Collective though, so on some days this person will be permanently banned from XB whereas on other days he will be welcome unless the person affected or people she asked to do so will have him thrown out for the night. Furthermore, we do not agree on the way the support group AskGerd_a deals with other groups because we perceive them as dominant and incooperative.“

„i agree to the houseban, because the affected person made clear that she will not come to the xb if there is the risk to meet the perpetrator here. Also when i think that a general exclusion will not change the behavior of a person, i want that the xb is a place where people who experienced violence feel welcome and supported.
Still i don`t agree to a certain practice, where it seems to be forbidden to for example speak with the surrounding of a perpetrator. For me it depends if it`s about listening to the perpetrators version of the incident, or if it`s about asking if he respects the power of definition of the affected person and shows that he wants to work on it (i use „he“ because of the structure behind this kind of violence, not because i think only cismen are crossing boundaries). I think that it will not help us to create something like a law which says how to deal with such situations, and i want to be free to make up my mind when i receive a request for a houseban. In many situations i would probably agree without discussion, in some situations it might be that i don`t agree on a certain demand of an affected person or supporters group. What doesn`t mean that i question in the fact that something boundary crossing happened itself.“

When we were asked by ask gerd_a end of last year to give the ban for the perpetrator we had a long process of discussions in xb collective and we missed to answer in time, with details, and concrete proposal to the affected person. We are aware that with this we messed up the situation and we know that it`s a general problem in our collective and we want to improve it.

We realized that after being confronted with the open ask gerd_a’s letter, so we had another discussion and now we can offer some days where the affected person can be sure to don‘t meet the perpetrator. we have a general consensus, like we wrote above, also the people who don‘t agree with a permanent ban, will be willing to ask him to leave if it happens that they are both in xb. This is something we all share and see as basic for the collective: if there is a person in xb who experiences discriminating/violent behavior and asks us for support we are in solidarity and if needed we will kick another person out for the night without discussion. We also want to make clear, that we already decided to exclude people for longer time from the space, no one from us is in generell against giving a ban. As you see above in the statements…

In general, most of us share enough political basics that we can respect the different opinions and go on as a collective.
The women-lesbian-trans monday want to point out, that they don`t agree to certain points of this text and will clearify this in an own text.

26.04. Concert: Barren Womb, Autovogel, Jabba the Butt, Sadhaka

Barren Womb is minimalism performed by maximalists. It is rough, jangly hardcore played by just two people, one on skins and the other on strings. Sometimes it’s fast and intense, other times slow and pulsating. Seldom however is it quite like anything heard before, always keeping somewhat to the left of the beaten path.

The two gentlemen in Jabba the Butt have been making a hell of a racket
since 2009 with their unorthodox brand of Noise Rock. They stand as
living proof that the drums and the bass are the coolest instruments and
that you do really do not need more to make brilliantly original music.

From a remote mountain hermitage on the edge of the Cascadian wilderness, a lone seeker deeply immersed in spiritual practice listened to the forest’s voices. The grieving rain, the raging sun, the breathing wind, he let them in, and learned their songs. The result of this numinous collaboration is Terma, the debut album by Sadhaka. Featuring members of metal ritualists Fauna and dark folk band Vradiazei, Sadhaka play a style of blackened metal informed by the wildness of Cascadia, and the mystical tradition of the Vajrayana. At times haunting, at times harrowing, delicate in moments and devastatingly intense, their songs recall the work of Scandinavian pioneers Ulver and At the Gates, as well as contemporary legends Neurosis. Sadhaka’s music is an offering to the ancient ones; a vision of life expressing all that is felt, holding nothing back, and knowing in a deep and immediate way that all of existence is impermanent, sentient, and sacred.

Autovogel is a D.I.Y stonerdoom trio from Oslo formed in summer 2011, with members from the ashes of Sønderknust and they have just recorded their first album.

KURWS [Poland / Sweden]

(the) Kurws formed in May of 2008 as a spontaneous consequence of a ping-pong session, which descended underground and remains there until today. They drew on influences arising from punkrock as well as rock n’roll tradition, garage/surf, krautrock, rotten funk, no wave or the British postpunk scene. The Kurws is punk, afflicted by the postmodernist curse with all of its benefit of inventory, where things are being born out of fusion and deconstruction. From an ambition to remain fresh and organic. At the same time it’s still an ordinary garage band, which brazenly takes the risk of collective improvising without proper musicianship, quietly dismissing the embarrassment of discredit. Their debut album “Dziura w getcie” (“Hole in a ghetto”) was released overseas.

“Shades of Ex-Models, Captain Beefheart, and Weasel Walter bands. All instrumental, serious, but not pretentious, fun, but not silly. Basically, my favorite type of rock band.”
Bad Speler

Målgrupp (swedish for selected group) is not a band and it’s not a solo project or an art project. The founder is Julian Murray but the people who have been involved are various individuals who bring their own expression to the sphere of the constantly evolving collective with DIY queer punk attitude and half living instruments & electronics in a situation of a stage performance, we try to get closer to the core of exploitation, decay and precarious situation in the contemporary time. With simplicity pin it down and re-form it in to a hopeful, rhythmical cry out through industrial beats, sequencers, trumpets, delay racks and a will to express ourselves with our bodies and minds.

Fanzine-, LP- and cassette-releases, exhibitions, performances and workshops are ways in which our thoughts have been expressed since the we started 2006. The debut split album “the young ones boogie” with the swedish act Silver Arken is at the record press as we read and is suppose to be released in early 2013 on the label “Alltid hela tiden”, and 2 cassettes on the labels “på månen” and “flacon”.

29:90 [Sweden]

29:90 (Stockholm) invites you to their intimate world where they try to tame their instruments in dark and joyful play. The music is a rough sounding machine like rhythm where african bells and tomtom drums bounces on top of high pitched voices with live dubbing, singing babbles, lalas and songs about school bullying, compulsive behavior and the texture of an abusive tongue. This is Lotti Solovitsky and Nini Maakestads form of expression. From the moment Nini and Lotti decided to make music together spring 2012 they got so eager that they took their first chance to get started, a small room they had access to from 9 in mornings til noon. The world of expressions brought them together and grew stronger during early morning rehearsals before work.

Influences among others are Jun Togawa, Cold Wave, DIY and Avant-garde music from the late 70’s and 80’s. Their first gig was in the autumn 2012 supporting Italian duo Trouble V’s Glue for club Mother in Stockholm and they released a cassette that same night. This year they plan record and release a full length LP.

+ guest:
Back at Sea [Germany]

Back at Sea is a Hardcore band located in Gießen, Germany, founded early 2010. The main concept was to create a versatile sound beyond genre-borders.

In September 2011, they released their first EP called “Forecast the Storm”. After several self-planned tours in 2011 and 2012, they have played Germany, the UK, France, Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg without being represented by a record label.
In the fall of 2012, they started to write their second EP called „Monochrome“, which will be released February 1st 2013.

Squatting Rome. „join the rebel side“

XB Liebig

Info veranstaltung auf english ueber Aktuell voelker bewegung ins Rome, Italien

Thanks to the students and workers movement since the end of 2008 Rome started again to resist and fight actual italian political crisis, this year is
the final explosion, with an avarage of 20 direct actions per month. Hospital, houses, schools, university being squatted, searching through
self organization to continue their work independently from the state. Also strong the eco environmental movement that is fight for a better
recycling system, to preserve water as public domain, against nuclear power and waste incinerators…
Rome is one of the mostly squatted city in europe, but the movement had always problems to coordinate itself due to the ideological difference
between the groups, finally something is bringing the people together…

see u there or on the barricades…

Women in Mexico

Movie „Señorita Extraviada“ (Lourdes Portillo, 2001). The figures on women getting assasinated are significantly higher in Ciudad Juárez, a city on the border to the United States, than in any other part of Mexico. While officially not only the mexican police but even their colleagues on the other side of the border are investigating, the statistics of the last few years showed that it is likely that not only the above mentioned but a wide range of politicians, heads of the drug mafia and of corporations seem to be actively taking part in this scandal.

Movie screened in Spanish with English with Vokü at 9pm.
